24 on Cars: What Does It Mean? (Simple Guide to Big Rims)

Okay, so I saw this thing online about putting 24-inch rims on cars, and I thought, “Why not give it a try?” I mean, it sounded pretty cool, and I’ve always been up for a little DIY project with my ride. So, I decided to dive in and see what all the fuss was about.

First things first, I got myself a set of those shiny 24-inch rims. Man, they looked huge! I also made sure to grab some low-profile tires to go with them because, apparently, that’s the way to do it. Didn’t want any rubbing or issues like that, you know?

Then came the fun part – getting those wheels on. I jacked up my car, took off the old wheels, which now looked tiny in comparison, and started putting on the new ones. It was a bit of a workout, I won’t lie. Those rims were heavy!

The First Obstacle

But here’s where it got tricky. When I tried to lower the car, the wheels wouldn’t clear the fenders. They were just too big. I thought, “Oh great, what now?” After scratching my head for a while, I figured I needed to make some adjustments.

  • Rolled the fenders: I got a fender roller and started working on those wheel arches. Basically, pushing the metal out to make more room. Took some time, but got it done.
  • Adjusted the suspension: Lowered it a bit to see if that would help. It did, but not enough.

I spent a good few hours tinkering, rolling, and adjusting. Finally, I managed to get the car to sit right. No more rubbing, and it looked pretty slick. I took it for a test drive, and it felt surprisingly smooth. But, I did notice the ride was a bit stiffer than before. Makes sense, right? Less tire to absorb the bumps.

The Final Touches

After all that work, I stood back and admired my handiwork. The car definitely looked different, more aggressive maybe. Was it worth it? I’d say so. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot about my car and what it takes to make some serious mods.

Would I recommend it to everyone? Probably not. It’s a lot of work, and you gotta be ready to make some changes to your car that you can’t easily undo. But if you’re into that kind of thing and you’re willing to put in the time, it’s a pretty cool mod to do. Just make sure you do your research and know what you’re getting into. And maybe have a friend around to help. Those rims are no joke!
