Okay, so I’ve been on this fitness kick lately, trying to, you know, finally get those abs everyone talks about. I’ve been doing planks, crunches, the whole nine yards. But then I stumbled upon this idea of torso rotations, and I was like, “Huh, that sounds… different.” So, I decided to give it a whirl.
My Little Experiment
First off, I had no clue how to even do a proper torso rotation. I mean, twisting your body? Sounds easy, but I didn’t want to, like, pull a muscle or something stupid. So, I watched a few videos, just to see how the “pros” do it. I realized I didn’t need any fancy equipment. Just me, myself, and I.
I started slow. Really slow. I stood with my feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, like I was about to do a squat or something. Then, I put my hands on my hips and just… twisted. Left, right, left, right. It felt kinda weird at first, like I was doing some awkward dance move. But I kept at it.
- Day 1-3: Just getting the hang of it. I did maybe 3 sets of 10 twists, super slow, just to make sure I wasn’t messing up my back. Felt a little something in my sides, but nothing crazy.
- Day 4-7: Upped it a bit. 3 sets of 15. Started to feel a little more burn, especially in my obliques (those side ab muscles, I think).
- Day 8-14: Okay, now we’re talking. I added a little weight – a small medicine ball I found in the closet. 3 sets of 15 with the ball, holding it out in front of me as I twisted. Definitely felt the difference! My core felt tighter, and I swear I could almost see a hint of definition. Almost.
- Day15-21: I tried the exercise with the crossfit * feel good and I can feel it!
The Verdict?
So, is torso rotation good for abs? I’m gonna say… yeah, probably. I mean, I’m no fitness expert, but I definitely felt it working muscles that my regular crunches weren’t hitting. Plus, it was kind of a fun change of pace. I wouldn’t say I magically have a six-pack now, but my core feels stronger, and that’s a win in my book. I’ll keep doing them, mixing them in with my other ab exercises. It’s all about that variety, right?
My advice? If you’re gonna try it, start slow, watch some videos to get the form right, and listen to your body. Don’t go crazy and twist yourself into a pretzel. And hey, maybe we’ll all have those dream abs someday. Maybe.
