Okay, so today I messed around with “Dunegrass Maine,” which, if you haven’t heard of it, is a golf club up in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. I’ve been meaning to get out on the course more, and this seemed like a good a place as any to start.

Getting Started
First thing I did was check out their website. Gotta see the lay of the land, you know? Figured I’d scope out the course map, see if there were any deals, maybe book a tee time if it looked good.
Looked pretty sharp. Their website, while basic, showed off the course well enough. Seemed like a well-maintained, semi-private kind of place. Decided to just show up and not book a time.
Hitting the Course
Got there, parked the car, and headed into the clubhouse. It was pretty busy, but nothing crazy. Paid my green fees – wasn’t too bad, price-wise.
Grabbed a scorecard and a pencil, and I was off. No warm-up, straight to the first tee. I know, I know, bad form, but I was feeling impatient.
Playing the Rounds
The course itself? Pretty nice. Wide fairways, for the most part, which is good for a hacker like me. The greens were in decent shape, rolled pretty true. Not lightning fast, but not slow either.

- First few holes: Started out okay, couple of pars, couple of bogeys. Nothing to write home about.
- Middle stretch: Got into a bit of a groove. Hit some good drives, made a few putts. Felt like I was actually playing golf!
- Back nine: Started to fade a little. Fatigue, maybe? Lost a couple of balls in the woods (oops). Finished strong though, with a nice par on 18.
Wrapping Up
Ended up shooting, well, let’s just say it wasn’t my best round ever. But it wasn’t my worst either! More importantly, I got some fresh air, some exercise, and had a good time. That’s what really matters, right?
Headed back to the clubhouse, grabbed a drink, and chatted with a few other folks who were finishing up their rounds. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits. Seemed to be a friendly, easy going group.
All in all, a good day. Dunegrass Maine? I’d recommend it. It’s not the fanciest course in the world, but it’s a solid track, well-maintained, and a good place to spend a few hours knocking a little white ball around.
