Okay, so you wanna know how I tackled Commander Niall in Elden Ring, huh? Man, that fight was a pain in the butt, but I finally figured it out. Let me tell you how I did it, step by step.
First things first: Preparation is key! I’m talking leveling up, upgrading your weapon, and getting the right spirit ashes. I went in there the first time way underleveled and got absolutely wrecked. Don’t be like me. I’d recommend being at least level 80, maybe even higher, with a weapon that’s at least +18 or +8 somber. And don’t forget to respec if you need to! My build wasn’t cutting it, so I tweaked it to focus more on raw damage output.
Then, the Spirit Ashes: This is HUGE. Commander Niall summons two knights before you even get to him, and they’re a nightmare. I tried a bunch of different summons, but what finally worked for me was the Black Knife Tiche. That girl is a beast! She dodges well and does a ton of damage. Plus, her special skill is awesome. Get her leveled up as high as you can.
Alright, now for the actual fight: As soon as you enter the arena, summon Black Knife Tiche. She’ll draw the aggro of at least one of the knights. Your main goal is to take down those knights as quickly as possible. Focus fire on one knight at a time. I usually went for the dual-wielding one first, since he’s more aggressive. Dodge his attacks (those ice blasts are nasty!) and punish him when he’s open. Keep an eye on Tiche’s health and try to draw aggro to yourself if she’s taking too much damage.
Once the Knights are Down: This is where the real fight begins. Commander Niall is a tough customer. He’s got a lot of health, hits hard, and has some tricky moves. My strategy was to stay relatively close to him, dodging his attacks and getting in a few hits whenever I could. Don’t get greedy! One or two hits is enough. Focus on dodging and staying alive.
Pay Attention to his Leg: Niall buffs his leg with lightning, which allows him to do some crazy wind attacks. When you see him do this, get ready to dodge! The wind attacks have a wide range and can knock you down. Also, watch out for his prosthetic leg stomps. They deal massive damage.
The Key is Patience: This fight is a marathon, not a sprint. Don’t get discouraged if you die a few times (or a lot of times, like I did). Just keep practicing, learning his moves, and finding the openings. Eventually, you’ll get him.
What weapons and skills did I use? I was running a strength build, so I used the Bloodhound’s Fang. It’s got good damage and a really useful weapon skill. I also used the Flame, Grant Me Strength incantation to buff my attack power. Any weapon with bleed will also do wonders here.
