Alright, let me tell you about the 2022 Fortinet Championship. Yeah, I actually made it out there that year. Decided, why not, right? Headed over to Napa, California. You know, Silverado Resort, the North Course they play on.

Got myself settled, walked around a bit. It’s wine country, so the vibe is kinda laid back but still serious, you know? The course looked amazing, obviously. These guys play on carpets, basically. It was pretty cool just being there, feeling the atmosphere build up.
Watching the Pros
Spent a good chunk of time just watching the players. It’s different seeing them live compared to on TV. You see the focus, the little routines they have. You hear the actual sound of the ball strike, the crowd reactions right next to you.
I remember watching different groups come through. You see the swings, some good shots, some bad ones just like us weekend hackers, except their bad shots are still pretty darn good.
The Competition Heats Up
Things definitely got tense towards the end. Following the leaders around, you could feel the pressure. Every shot mattered big time. I think Max Homa ended up winning it that year, right? Yeah, seemed like a tough battle out there. Seeing someone clinch a tournament win live is something else.

- Walked a lot of holes.
- Saw some incredible recovery shots.
- Felt the buzz from the crowd on key putts.
Big Money, Big Points
And these guys weren’t just playing for bragging rights. Heard the total prize money was huge, something like $8.4 million. The winner, Homa in this case, walked away with a nice check, must’ve been around $1.5 million. Plus, they get a ton of FedExCup points, like 500 points for the win. That stuff really matters for their season standings.
It’s kinda crazy when you think about it. All that pressure, playing for that kind of money and those points, with everyone watching. Makes you appreciate the skill involved. It’s not just swinging a club.
So yeah, that was my time at the 2022 Fortinet. Good weather, good golf, saw some top players battle it out. Definitely a cool experience to chalk up. Napa wasn’t too shabby either.
