My Day at Bonneville Golf SLC
So, I woke up the other day, felt like hitting some balls. You know how it is. Decided Bonneville Golf Course was the spot. Haven’t been there in a little while, thought I’d check it out again.

First thing, gotta get the gear together. Dug out my clubs from the garage, made sure I had enough balls – lose a few sometimes, you know. Threw on some comfortable clothes, nothing fancy. Grabbed my shoes and was out the door.
Drove over there. It’s pretty easy to get to, right there near the foothills. Found a parking spot without too much trouble, which is always nice. Grabbed my bag and walked towards the pro shop. It’s got that classic clubhouse feel.
Went inside to pay up. The folks behind the counter were straightforward, got me checked in quick. Decided to walk the course this time, get some exercise in. Paid my green fee, got my receipt, and headed towards the first tee.
Hitting the Links
Stepped up to the first hole. Took a practice swing or two. Felt okay. Then just went for it. Ball went mostly straight, pretty happy with that start. The course itself looked decent. It’s got those hills, you know, typical Bonneville. Makes you think about your shots.
- The fairways were alright, mostly green.
- Greens were rolling okay, maybe a little slow but consistent.
- Had to play out of a bunker once or twice, sand was playable.
Played through the front nine. Had some good shots, had some bad ones. That’s golf, right? Remember one par 3, uphill, always tricky. Managed to get it on the green, felt good about that one. The views up there looking back towards the city are pretty great, have to say. Took a moment to just look around.

Made the turn, kept going. Felt the legs starting to get a bit tired walking those hills, but it was a good workout. The back nine has some interesting holes too. Kept track of my score, but wasn’t too worried about it. Just enjoying being outside, swinging the clubs.
Wrapping Up
Finished up on the 18th. Shook hands with the guys I got paired up with. Always meet some interesting people out there. Walked back towards the parking lot, feeling pretty tired but satisfied. Threw the clubs back in the car.
Overall, it was a solid day of golf. Bonneville is a good, challenging course. It’s not perfect, but it’s got character. You get some exercise, some fresh air, hit a few good shots hopefully. Yeah, I’d go back. It’s a reliable spot for a round here in SLC.
