That Aoki, he sure is somethin’. Born in 1942, I heard. He’s a pro golfer, that Aoki fella. They say he’s from Japan. I don’t know much ’bout Japan, but I know that Aoki, he can hit that little ball real good.
Aoki, a Big Shot Golfer
He’s a pro golfer, you know? Been playin’ since, well, way back in ’64, I reckon. That’s what them folks on the TV said. They talk fast, those TV folks. Hard to keep up sometimes. But I heard ’em say 1964. That’s a long time ago. Longer than I been watchin’ golf, that’s for sure.
They say he’s famous, this Aoki. Got all kinds of awards and such. World Golf somethin’ or other. Hall of Fame, I think they called it. Don’t know what that means, exactly, but it sounds mighty important. Must be like winnin’ a big ol’ ribbon at the county fair.
- He’s Japanese, that Aoki.
- Started playin’ golf in ’64.
- He’s in some Hall of Fame thing.
- He won a bunch of games.
Now, I ain’t no pro golfer myself. Never been one for swingin’ clubs around. More of a sittin’ on the porch kinda gal. But I seen him on the TV, that Aoki. He’s got a good swing, I’ll give him that. Hits that ball a country mile.
Watchin’ Aoki on the TV
My nephew, he got me one of them fancy TVs. Big ol’ thing. Shows all them sports. Baseball, football, and that golf, too. That’s where I seen Aoki. He was playin’ in some big tournament. Lots of folks watchin’. All dressed up fancy. Not like ’round here.
He was playin’ against some other fellas. Can’t rightly remember their names. But that Aoki, he was holdin’ his own. He got second place, the TV folks said, in Japan. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? Bein’ second best in a whole country. I reckon he is pretty good. A real pro golfer.
They showed him swingin’ that club, slow like. Over and over. Said he was teachin’ folks how to do it. How to be a pro golfer like him. Don’t know if I could ever learn. My back ain’t what it used to be. But it’s nice to watch.

That Aoki, He’s Somethin’ Else
They say he’s gettin’ up there in years, that Aoki. But he’s still playin’. Still swingin’ that club. Must be tough on the body, all that walkin’ and swingin’. But some fellas, they just love that golf. Just like my cousin loves fishin’. Never could understand it myself, but to each their own, I always say.
So that’s Aoki, the pro golfer. A Japanese fella who can hit that little ball real good. He’s famous, they say. Got all kinds of awards. And he’s still playin’, even though he’s gettin’ up there in years. He must really love that game.
I don’t know much ’bout golf. But I know that Aoki, he’s somethin’ special. One of them pro golfers you hear about. The kind they put in that Hall of Fame thing. And that’s somethin’, ain’t it?

I seen some other pro golfers on that TV. One fella, McIlroy, they called him. He was young, they said. Good too, Won some big games, I reckon. There was another one, Watson. He started young too, like six years old. I don’t know no six year old that can play golf. But that Watson, he learned from his daddy, hitin’ a whiffle ball. Don’t know what a whiffle ball is, but it sounds funny. These pro golfers, they all start somewhere, I guess. Just like that Aoki.
He played somewhere called Jupiter, in Florida. Don’t know where that is neither. But I know it is somewhere in the U.S. That’s what the TV folks say. I only been as far as the next county over. That’s far enough for me. But these pro golfers, they travel all over. Playin’ their game. That Aoki, he’s been all over, I bet.
I reckon that’s all I know ’bout that Aoki. He sure seems like one of them top notch pro golfers. Maybe I’ll watch him again sometime, on that big ol’ TV. If my nephew comes by and turns it on for me, that is.
