Breaking Down the Lone Star Race Results: Winners and Losers

Okay, so, about that Lone Star race. You wouldn’t believe the day I had. Started out like any other day, you know, woke up, had my coffee, and decided, “Why not check out some horse racing?” Lone Star Park it was. I’ve always been a fan, but this time I thought I’d record the whole thing.

First thing I did was look up the schedule. Found out they had some big stakes races – the Steve Sexton Mile and the Assault Stakes. Sounded exciting! I grabbed my notebook and pen, ready to jot down everything. They update the entries and results live, which is super convenient. I like to keep track of these things, makes me feel like a real insider.

I started digging into past results, you know, just to get a feel for the track. Racenet has records going back to 2012, so there was plenty to look through. I was mostly interested in recent races, though. Noticed this one horse, The Grand Legend, had a pretty impressive record. Won 11 out of 33 starts, and 7 out of 10 at the 870 trip. That’s something, right?

Next, I checked out the entries for the day. Saw a race that caught my eye – a Futurity Trial for two-year-olds. The purse was only $10, but hey, it’s all about the thrill of the race. Marked it down in my notebook – “Off at 9:46.”

Then I got to thinking, “What’s the history of this place?” Turns out, Lone Star Park opened in 1997. Not that old, but still has a good history. They hold races for Thoroughbreds, Quarter horses, Paint, and Appaloosas. Pretty diverse, if you ask me.

Diving Deeper

So I found their website and I started going through their race results for the day. I decided to write down the result of one of these races.

  • Date: 06/28/20
  • Track: LS
  • Race: Not sure, didn’t write it down
  • Distance: Didn’t catch that either
  • Surface: Missed it
  • Condition: Nope, didn’t get that
  • 1st Place: I know it had an HRN Speed rating, but I forgot the number
  • 2nd Place: Didn’t write it
  • 3rd Place: Nope
  • Time: Totally spaced on that one

Yeah, so my note-taking wasn’t exactly on point that day. But I did catch a blurb about a horse named Sleepy Eyes Todd. Apparently, he was the favorite in the Lone Star Mile race. That was their 8th race, with a $75 purse. I made a mental note to check the results later.

All in all, it was a fun day at the races. Even though my record-keeping was a bit of a mess, I enjoyed the whole experience. There’s just something about the energy of a racetrack, you know? I’ll definitely be back, maybe with a better system for taking notes next time! It’s not like I’m a pro or anything, but it’s fun to pretend sometimes.

I saw a lot of results from the races but unfortunately I didn’t write most of them down, oh well, maybe next time I’ll do a better job of keeping track of everything.
