So, I was having one of those nights, you know? Just couldn’t get my brain to shut down. Tossing and turning. Ended up flicking through the TV, trying to find something to make me a bit sleepy, and what pops up? We’re the Millers. Watched it a bunch of times, but hey, it was on.
And there’s Will Poulter as Kenny. He looked so young in that, proper kid-like. It got me thinking because I’d seen him more recently in stuff where he looked completely different. Like, worlds apart. My brain did a bit of a double-take. “Hold on,” I thought, “how old was he back then?” That’s what started it all, this little dive I did.
My Little Investigation Kicks Off
So, phone in hand, I started looking him up. Typed in the usual, “Will Poulter younger,” “Will Poulter We’re the Millers age,” that sort of thing. You know how it is, one click leads to another, and suddenly you’re deep in it.
I remembered seeing him way back, even before Millers. Found some stuff about his early days. It turns out he really got noticed with a few things when he was super young. My search reminded me of these:
- School of Comedy – Man, he was just a teenager then, probably around 14 or 15, already doing his thing.
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader – He played Eustace Scrubb. I remember that! He would have been a bit older, but still very much a younger actor. That was back in 2010, so he was still in his teens.
Then, of course, I zeroed back in on We’re the Millers. That movie came out in 2013. Turns out, Will was born in early ’93, so he was only about 20 when it was released. That means during filming, he was probably more like 18 or 19. It’s wild. He even got a BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2014, which is a pretty big deal, especially for someone that young.
The Big Change Up
But the real kicker, the thing that got me started on this whole train of thought, was seeing how he looks now. I’d seen bits about him getting ready for that Adam Warlock role. And wow. The transformation is just incredible. He went from that lanky, kinda goofy kid in Millers to this super built guy. Apparently, he put in some serious work, training like mad. Heard he was aiming for that almost perfect, god-like physique for the character. It’s a heck of a change, not just the muscles, but his whole presence.
It’s funny how you see an actor in one role, especially when they’re young, and that image sticks with you. Then they grow up, take on different challenges, and they totally reinvent themselves. It’s just part of their job, I guess, but it’s still pretty amazing to see the journey. Made me think that while we see them on screen, they’re also just people, going through their own changes and working hard on their craft. It was just a random late-night thought that sent me down this path, but it was quite the trip seeing how much he’s evolved.
