LSU Football Bowl Game History (Look Back At Past Wins, Losses, And Memorable Moments)

Okay, so I’ve been following LSU football for years, and their bowl game history is something else. Let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I remember back in 1993, I was just a young fella, and we got absolutely destroyed by Florida, 58-3. That was rough, the worst loss in school history. But you know what? Just a few weeks later, we pulled off a stunner against Alabama, 17-13. I was jumping up and down, I couldn’t believe it! We ended their 31-game unbeaten streak. Talk about a comeback!

Since 2000, it’s been pretty consistent. We’ve been in a bowl game every single year. That’s 20 years in a row, and it’s one of the longest active streaks in college football. It feels good to be part of that. I’ve watched every game on TV, and sometimes, I even managed to get tickets. The atmosphere at those games is electric.

Some Key Moments

  • 2024 ReliaQuest Bowl: Just this year, Brian Kelly coached us in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
  • 2023 Citrus Bowl: Brian Kelly again, leading the charge.
  • 2022 Texas Bowl: This one was with Brad Davis as the coach.

I dug up some old notes, and it turns out we’ve been in 54 bowl games total. That’s a lot of football! And our record is pretty decent, 29 wins, 24 losses, and 1 tie. I remember that 1935 Sugar Bowl, even though it’s way before my time. I read about it, a close loss to TCU, 3-2. We lost, but it was our first bowl appearance, so it’s still a big deal.

We’ve won five national championships – 1908, 1958, 2003, 2007, and 2019. Each of those years was special, and I remember celebrating each of those victories like it was yesterday. I still have some old newspapers and memorabilia from those championships. I even remember in 2007 when we played in an Unsanctioned Bowl Game against the University of Havana in the Bacardi Bowl, we won 56-0. Now, that was a game to remember! In the end, it is all about football spirit for me!

Being an LSU fan hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always been exciting. We’ve had our ups and downs, our heartbreaks and our triumphs. And through it all, I’ve been there, cheering them on. It’s more than just a game, it’s a tradition, a part of who I am. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Geaux Tigers!
