Star Lord Marvel Rivals Beta Tips – Play Like a Pro Player Now

How I Went From Total Noob to Decent Star-Lord Player

So Marvel Rivals beta dropped, and I jumped straight in. Heard Star-Lord was fun, figured why not? Big mistake at first. Wasted like my first ten matches just spamming the attack button like a maniac. Got wrecked so hard, man. Teammates probably cursed my name. Felt bad, like I was letting everyone down.

Decided enough was enough. Needed to figure this dude out properly. Loaded into the practice range first, just me and some dumb training bots. Didn’t even try aiming for headshots right away. Just stood there, pressed every button to see what it actually did. Basic stuff, right? His guns shoot kinda fast but don’t hurt much alone. The real sauce? His jet boots and that grapple hook thing.

Finally noticed something huge: His Element Guns ability NEEDS that grapple hook connection. Seriously. You gotta hook onto stuff – walls, platforms, whatever – THEN trigger the guns. Before that? I’d just run around trying to blast people point-blank, doing peanuts for damage. Felt dumb missing that.

Practiced that hook-shoot combo over and over on the bots. Took a while, kept messing up the timing. Hook onto a ledge, hold the gun button, see the numbers actually jump. That’s your bread and butter.

Okay, damage handled? Kinda. Now survival. Playing Star-Lord felt like being made of paper. Every Widow or Hulk looked at me funny? Dead. Needed to move. All the time.

Practiced zooming around the training map like a madman. Using the jet boots dash to dodge backward when someone jumped me. Learned to hook onto weird bits of scenery just to get out instantly – not just to shoot. Found myself hooking behind walls for a breather after taking some hits. Game changer.

Here’s the stuff that actually made me stop sucking:

  • Grapple Hook is NOT optional: Use it constantly. Aim for ledges constantly, not the floor. Always be thinking “where can I hook?”.
  • Element Guns are ONLY after Grapple: Seriously, hook first. Wait for the connection. THEN unleash the firepower.
  • Jet Boots Dash = Your Get Outta Jail Card: Getting hit? Mash that dash button. Backwards usually buys you space.
  • Don’t Stay Still. Ever. Stop. Landing for half a second? That’s too long. Be squirrely.
  • Your Ult is Great Crowd Control: Need to push folks off a point or mess up their attack? Toss the Walkman ball thing right in their faces.

Took this mess back into real matches. Still died. Still lost some. But started getting kills. Started actually helping my team push points. Stopped feeling like dead weight. Felt the rhythm finally. Hook-shoot-dash-repeat. Constant motion.

It ain’t magic. Still get blasted sometimes. Still miss hooks. But now, at least, I understand why I messed up. Practice pays off, even if you start out looking like a complete clown. Now go get hooked on Star-Lord yourself.
