My Morning Panic and the Repost Mess
So yeah, woke up today, grabbed my phone, opened TikTok like always. Scrolled through my feed, saw some hilarious cat videos – obviously had to repost a few! Hit that button without thinking twice. Later, I grabbed some coffee, checked my profile… and oh crap. Every single repost I’d ever done? Right there for the whole world to see. Even that embarrassing dance meme from last week!
Instant panic mode. My little cousin follows me! My old colleague from that weird summer job follows me! Couldn’t have them seeing everything I impulsively shared. Started frantically poking around the app. Went straight to my profile settings. Looked under “Privacy.” Scrolled down, saw stuff about downloads, liked videos… but nothing about the bloody reposts!
Digging Deep in Settings
Alright, took a deep breath. Didn’t panic. Tried another angle. Remembered seeing something about profile settings maybe being separate? Went back to the main menu, hit the “Settings and Privacy” thing. Honestly, it’s like a rabbit hole in there. Started scrolling through option after option:
- Account – Nah, not this.
- Privacy – Okay, warmer!
- Who can see your liked videos? – Close but not it!
- Who can comment? – Also close but nope.
Finally, almost gave up… scrolled some more… and then, BAM! There it was! Smaller than I expected:
“Who can view the videos you reposted?”
Felt like finding buried treasure after digging through garbage!
Flipping the Switch (Finally!)
Seriously relieved now. Didn’t hesitate for a second. Tapped that setting. Saw a few choices pop up:
- Everyone
- Friends
- Only me
Smacked that “Only me” button so fast my finger almost smoked. Got that satisfying little checkmark next to it. Went back to my profile immediately. Refreshed. And… sweet relief! The “Reposted” tab was gone. Vanished! Checked with a friend’s dummy account later – confirmed: absolutely nothing showing.
Happy Ending? Mostly.
Phew. Done. That was WAY harder than it should be, TikTok! Seriously, why bury it so deep? Like I need to be Indiana Jones just to keep my stupid reposts private? Makes zero sense. But hey, mission accomplished. Now I can repost weird cooking hacks and questionable memes all day long. And best part? Nobody else gets to judge! My feed, my weirdness, my choice. Lesson learned: always check the damn privacy settings BEFORE you hit repost!
