So yesterday I realized my TikTok profile was flooded with random reposts from other creators cluttering things up. Honestly felt kinda dumb letting everyone see every single video I tapped ‘share’ on, you know? My follower feed probably looked like a messy yard sale. Usually just tap ‘Repost’ and slam ‘Post’ without thinking. This time, I actually PAUSED and looked at the screen after hitting ‘Repost’. Saw the text saying it was going public. And right below it… a tiny little dropdown! Almost missed it! Said ‘Everyone’ with a tiny arrow pointing down next to it.
Aha! That sneaky little setting! Tapped the dropdown expecting maybe ‘Followers’ or something. Boom! Saw ‘Only Me‘ as an option clear as day. Felt like I discovered buried treasure under my own sofa cushions. Seriously TikTok, why hide it here?
Locking It Down
Okay, so here’s exactly what I clicked through to finally make my reposts private once and for all:
- Clicked ‘Share’ on any TikTok video
- Clicked ‘Repost‘ button
- Before hitting ‘Post‘, looked RIGHT BELOW the caption box.
- Tapped the dropdown that defaulted to ‘Everyone‘
- Selected ‘Only Me‘
- Then pressed ‘Post’
Did a test run – reposted something super random to double-check. Went to my profile. Gone. Nowhere to be seen! Checked it was just for me by switching to a friend’s account browsing my profile – invisible! Perfect.
Done and Dusted
Honestly, feels so much cleaner now. My reposts are just for my own eyes tucked away safely, like keeping sticky notes hidden in a drawer. Profile looks way less chaotic. Takes maybe two extra seconds when reposting to choose ‘Only Me’. Totally worth it. Mystery solved, clutter gone! If you ever feel like sharing stuff just for yourself, don’t give up.
