Alright, so I wanted to unlock the normal flying in the latest World of Warcraft expansion, Dragonflight. I heard it wasn’t too hard, so I decided to give it a shot. Here’s how it all went down.

Getting Started
First things first, I logged into the game and got my main character ready. I play a Blood Elf Paladin, if you’re curious. I made sure I had some snacks and drinks nearby because, you know, gaming sessions can get pretty long.
Following the Main Story
So, the main deal to unlock normal flying is to complete the main storyline quests in each of the new zones. I started with the first zone the game throws you into. I just followed the quests the game gave me. Honestly, it was pretty straightforward. I just followed the markers on the map, talked to the NPCs, and did what they asked.
Exploring the New Maps
Besides doing the quests, I also had to explore all the new maps. This was actually kind of fun. I love checking out new areas in games, and the Dragon Isles are seriously beautiful. I just flew around on my dragon, uncovered all the foggy parts of the map, and took in the sights. There are some really cool hidden spots, too. I stumbled upon a few treasures and rare monsters while I was exploring, which was a nice bonus.
Grinding Through the Quests
The questing part took a bit of time. I mean, there’s a lot to do. I spent a good chunk of my day just following the storyline. Some quests were easy peasy, like talking to someone or picking up some items. Others were a bit tougher, like killing a bunch of enemies or taking down a big boss. I had to use all my abilities and sometimes even died a few times. But hey, that’s part of the game, right?
Completing Each Zone
I made sure to finish all the main story quests in each zone before moving on to the next one. I’m a bit of a completionist, so I didn’t want to leave anything undone. Plus, I figured it would be easier to keep track of my progress that way. One by one, I knocked out each zone’s storyline. It was satisfying to see those completion messages pop up.

Finally Unlocking Flying!
After a few hours, I finally finished the last main story quest and explored the entire map. And guess what? I got a message saying I unlocked normal flying! I was stoked. I immediately hopped on my regular mount and took to the skies. It felt amazing to fly around freely without having to rely on that dragon.
Wrapping Up
So yeah, that’s how I unlocked normal flying in Dragonflight. It took me about 3-4 hours or so, but it was totally worth it. Now I can fly anywhere I want on my favorite mount, and it makes getting around so much easier. Plus, it’s just plain fun to soar through the air and see the world from above. If you’re still stuck using that dragon, I highly recommend putting in the time to unlock normal flying. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
