Kicked Off the Quest Like a Total Newbie
Woke up last Tuesday dead set on grabbing those Stars of Ruin everyone keeps whining about in the forums. Figured, “how hard could it be?” Spoiler: real damn hard at first. Grabbed my usual gear – decent armor, trusty sword – and marched straight into Whispering Canyon like I owned the place. Big mistake.
First five hours were brutal. Tried smashing every glowing rock I saw. Nothin’. Chased those floating wisps through thorn bushes till my boots were shredded. Zip. Even attempted bribing the creepy merchant near Dead Man’s Gulch with stale biscuits. Got laughed at. Felt like an idiot.
That Dumb “Aha!” Moment
Almost threw my controller out the window when I tripped over a mossy log. Landed face-first in mud, right? But hear this – my hand slapped a weird circular stone half-buried in the sludge. Pried it out, all slippery and gross. Saw faint star-shaped grooves carved on it.

Turns out these “moon rocks” (that’s what I call ’em) scatter everywhere near waterfall mist. Never noticed cause they look like regular stones when dry. Dumb luck saved my sanity.

Okay, here’s the stupid simple method that actually works: Hunt around waterfalls at dawn when everything’s damp. Spot those circular rocks with weird dents. Flip them wet side up towards sunlight. Watch them shoot out light beams like disco lasers.

- Dig exactly where light touches dirt
- Profit (well, get stars anyway)
Collected seventeen Stars before lunch yesterday. Didn’t even need fancy tools – just my rusty shovel. Still can’t believe I wasted days sword-whacking boulders like some caveman. Lesson learned: sometimes the “magic solution” is literally washing mud off rocks.
Next time someone cries about this grind? Hand them a bucket of water. Works better than any sword swing.
