Looking for a Gun in Missouri? Check Out Midwest Gun Trader MO

Okay, so, I gotta tell you about this whole mess with Midwest Gun Trader, or MGT as some folks call it. It was this online place where you could buy, sell, or trade guns and ammo in Missouri. Sounded simple, right? Well, let me tell you, it turned into a real headache.

First off, I heard that the website went offline. So I started digging around, asking in online forums and such. Found out it actually shut down in April 2021. Bummer. Someone mentioned a dealer who used to advertise there a lot had a shop in Raymore. They might know something, so I tried to find their contact info.

Then, someone on the Missouri Whitetails forum told me about this new site called Show Me Guns. Said it was made by the same guy who built MGT. It is like a new place for classifieds and forums and other stuff. That got me a little excited. I mean, a new place to browse for guns and ammo? I was in.

Diving Into Show Me Guns

I signed up on Show Me Guns, started poking around. It was a bit different from the old MGT, but still had that same vibe. People were listing all sorts of stuff – rifles, handguns, ammo, you name it. I even saw someone looking to trade a pink camo pistol for a Taurus 357. Wild, right?

I saw a lot of posts about buying and selling, and some folks asking about the rules. Missouri’s a constitutional carry state. That means you don’t need to jump through a bunch of hoops to own a gun. No background checks for private sales, just gotta be 18 and show some ID. Pretty straightforward.

My First Deal

I decided to try and sell an old rifle I had lying around. I took some pictures, wrote up a description, and posted it on the site. It felt weird at first, putting it out there like that. But hey, everyone else was doing it.

I got a few messages, some lowball offers, but finally, someone was serious. We chatted back and forth, agreed on a price, and set up a time to meet. I was a little nervous, meeting a stranger to sell a gun. But it all went smoothly. He checked out the rifle, I showed him my ID, and we made the deal. Cash in hand, rifle gone. It felt good to get rid of it and make some money.

So, that’s my story with this whole Midwest Gun Trader thing and its replacement, Show Me Guns. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, with the old site shutting down and a new one popping up. But in the end, I managed to sell a gun and learn a bit about the online gun trading world in Missouri. It’s definitely a unique experience, that’s for sure.

  • Signed up on Show Me Guns.
  • Browsed listings and learned about Missouri gun laws.
  • Posted my rifle for sale.
  • Negotiated with a buyer.
  • Successfully sold the rifle.

And that’s my experience. Not too crazy, but definitely an interesting little adventure into the world of online gun trading. It worked out okay in the end, and I got a little extra cash in my pocket.
