Okay, so, I’ve been to Pebble Beach a few times, and I always get a little confused about the best way to get there, especially when it comes to flying. So, I did a deep dive into this whole airport situation near Pebble Beach, and here’s what I found out from my little adventure.

First off, I started with a simple online search. I just typed in “nearest airport to Pebble Beach” and hit enter. Immediately, a bunch of results popped up. The closest one, no surprise, is Monterey Regional Airport (MRY). It’s super close, like only about 5.6 miles away. That’s practically a stone’s throw in travel terms.

Checked out Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) first.

It’s only about 5.6 miles from Pebble Beach – that’s a very easy drive.
But, I thought, what if flights to Monterey are limited or pricey? So, I looked into other options. Turns out, San Jose (SJC) is the next closest, about 55.8 miles away. Not too bad, a bit of a drive, but doable. Then there’s San Francisco (SFO), which is around 76.9 miles away. That’s a longer haul, but SFO is a major hub, so you have tons of flight options.

Explored San Jose Airport (SJC) – it’s about 55.8 miles away. A bit of a drive, but manageable.
-
Considered San Francisco Airport (SFO) – it’s farther, about 76.9 miles, but it’s a big airport with lots of flights.
After that, I found Oakland (OAK) at 81 miles and even Fresno (FAT) at 124.9 miles. Those are definitely backup options if you’re okay with a longer drive after you land. I also noticed a lot of people mention that you can walk Pebble Beach Golf Links, but it’s a good idea to have a caddie. And for clothes, no denim. Okay, good to know. I had read online that no denim was allowed on the golf course, so I packed some slacks and shorts, just to be safe.

Oakland (OAK) and Fresno (FAT) are farther out, but they’re there if you need them.
-
You can walk the golf course, but caddies are recommended.
-
Remember, no denim on the golf course!
I ended up booking a flight into Monterey (MRY) because it was just so darn convenient. I figured I’d save time on the road, and that’s always a plus in my book. Getting to Pebble Beach was a breeze, I rented a car at the airport and arrived at the Lodge at Pebble Beach in 20 minutes.
My Personal Take
If you’re flying, I’d say aim for Monterey (MRY) if you can. It just makes the whole trip so much smoother. If not, San Jose (SJC) is your next best bet. San Francisco (SFO) works too, especially if you’re combining your Pebble Beach visit with some sightseeing in the city. I hope this helps anyone planning a trip there. It’s an amazing place, and getting there should be part of the fun, not a headache!
