Okay, so yesterday I stumbled upon this thing called the “NBA Squares Game.” I had no clue what it was, but you know me, I’m always up for trying something new, especially when it involves the NBA.

First, I tried to figure out what this game was all about. It’s like, you gotta guess which NBA players fit certain categories. There are these grids, and you have to fill them in with the right names. Sounded simple enough, right? Wrong! I started with one of the easier-looking grids. There were things like “Players who’ve played for the Lakers and the Celtics.” I thought, “Oh, I got this. I know my NBA history!”
I started jotting down names. Shaq, obviously, for Lakers and Celtics. Then I thought, “Wait, who else?” My mind started racing. I was pulling out all the names I could remember from the top of my head. I got stuck on a few squares, I’ll admit. Like, there was one that wanted a player who averaged over 10 rebounds a season. I was like, “Okay, Dennis Rodman, for sure.” But then I had to think of others, and my brain just froze.
I ended up spending way more time on this than I expected. I went down a rabbit hole of stats, pulling up old rosters, trying to remember who played where and when. It was nuts! I was scribbling names on a piece of paper, crossing them out, starting over. My living room turned into this chaotic war room of NBA stats and player names.
Then I moved on to a different grid. This one was tougher. It had categories I didn’t even consider. I searched for other game modes, like higher or lower PPG, Salaries, and three pointers. It was fun to play. And I was trying to recall players who have those stats. I’ve spent like, half the day on this thing. My wife was giving me the side-eye, like, “Seriously, you’re still doing that?” But I was hooked!
- I learned a lot, though. I brushed up on my NBA trivia big time.
- Plus, it was a fun way to kill some time.
- I even found some printable grids that you can play with friends.
I found this NBA office pool thing. They had all these printable grids, like a 50 square box one. I printed a few of them out, thinking I could get my buddies into this. They’re all into the NBA like me, so I figured, why not make it a little competition? We could even make it like a betting pool and have some real stakes involved.

I also found another site where it’s like a database. They got all the players, their stats, tendencies. It is also about NBA 2k games. It’s a gold mine for any NBA fan, I got lost in those pages. So, yeah, that was my day yesterday. Lost in the world of NBA squares. It was way more fun and challenging than I thought it would be.
If you’re an NBA fan, you should definitely check it out. Just be prepared to lose a few hours of your life! And maybe have a pen and paper handy, you’re gonna need it to keep track of all those names.
