Get the Scoop on Pittsburgh Pirates Background: Everything You Need to Know

Hey everyone, I’ve been messing around with some stuff related to the Pittsburgh Pirates, and I thought I’d share my experience. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, to be honest.

So, I started by looking at their recent performance. Not gonna lie, it’s been a bit rough. They had a 76-86 record in 2023, and it seems like they haven’t been able to improve much. I was digging around to see what they’ve been up to this offseason. They made one move, trading for this left-handed first baseman, Spencer Horwitz. I guess they thought that was a “pivotal need.” Okay, sure.

I also found some stuff about key offseason dates. Apparently, five days after the World Series wraps up, that’s when things start happening. But honestly, it didn’t seem like much was going on for the Pirates. The 2024 season wasn’t great, we all know that. I was hoping to find some exciting news, but it was mostly just…meh.

Then I stumbled upon some articles about prospects. You know, the young guys who are supposed to be the future of the team. There’s this “free version” of the Pittsburgh Pirates Top Prospects, and I was trying to get some insights into who might make a difference in 2025. But it felt like I needed to pay to get the real juicy details, and I wasn’t about to do that.

Next, I started looking into what the team needs to do before reporting to Bradenton in February. They added a couple of guys, Gonzales and Perez, to their starting rotation. That’s something, I guess. But it felt like they were just filling out the roster, not really making any big splashes.

  • Add to the offense.

Adding to the offense. That seems to be the big thing everyone’s talking about. I read that Ben Cherington, the general manager, said it’s a top priority. But he also said it’s not as simple as just signing free agents. I mean, no kidding! It’s like saying, “We need to score more runs, but it’s not as easy as just hitting the ball.” Thanks for the insight, Ben.

Then I saw something about them needing to make trades. They need to “augment their offense,” whatever that means. And they need to find players who will have the “desired effect.” Again, very insightful stuff. It’s like they’re saying they need to get better players to get better results. Groundbreaking.

Finally, I came across an article where Cherington said he’s going to examine every part of the roster and try to improve. They’ve won 76 games in the last two seasons, which isn’t great. I mean, they’re a last-place team. It felt like he was just saying what he’s supposed to say. “We’re going to try to get better.” No duh! It is his job.

So, that’s been my journey into the world of the Pittsburgh Pirates. It’s been a bit frustrating, to say the least. They’re not doing great, they’re not making any big moves, and their general manager is saying all the obvious things. Maybe next year will be different. Maybe I should just find something else to look into. But hey, I thought I’d share my experience. Maybe some of you have some thoughts or insights. Let me know what you think.
