Alright, so I wanted to do this “NBA Move Ups” thing. I’d heard about it, and it sounded pretty cool, so I figured, why not give it a shot? Basically, you are starting at the bottom, try to get better seats at an NBA game by asking people to trade with you. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, not so much.

First, I got to the stadium. I had these terrible seats, like, way up in the nosebleeds. You could barely see the players. So, I started my mission. I walked around, looking for people who might want to trade. I spotted this couple who looked pretty friendly, and I went up to them.
“Hey,” I said, “would you guys be willing to trade seats with me? Mine are a bit… high up.” They looked at each other, then back at me, and said, “No way, man, we like our seats.” Okay, fair enough. I moved on.
Next, I saw this group of friends who were having a good time. I figured they might be in a good mood, so I approached them. Same question, same answer. “Sorry, dude, we’re good here.” It was like this for a while. I tried talking to a bunch of people, but nobody wanted to trade.

- Attempt 2: Group of friends – Rejected
- Attempt 3: Family with kids – Rejected
- Attempt 4: Solo guy – Rejected
I was starting to feel a little defeated. Maybe this whole “NBA Move Ups” thing was a bad idea. But then, I spotted this guy sitting by himself. He looked kinda bored, so I thought, maybe, just maybe.
I went up to him and asked, “Hey, would you be interested in trading seats? Mine are really high up, but maybe you want a different view?” He looked at my ticket, then back at his, and then a smile spread across his face. “Sure,” he said, “I’ve always wanted to see what it’s like up there.”

I couldn’t believe it! It actually worked! We traded tickets, and I headed down to his seat. It was so much better! I could actually see the players’ faces, hear the squeak of their shoes on the court, it was awesome. I thanked the guy again, and he just smiled and said, “Enjoy the game!”
So, yeah, that’s my “NBA Move Ups” story. It took a while, and there were a lot of rejections, but in the end, it all worked out. It’s definitely something I’d recommend trying if you’re ever at a game with bad seats. You never know, you might just get lucky!
If you have also tried to do this “NBA Move Ups” thing, let me know in the comments! I am so curious about how is going on!
