Phillies vs. Reds: Dont Miss the Philadelphia Phillies vs Cincinnati Reds Matchup!

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to really get into following baseball, and I figured a good way to do that was to pick a couple of teams and watch their games. I went with the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cincinnati Reds, mostly because I liked their names and colors. Sounds silly, I know, but hey, gotta start somewhere, right?

First thing I did was look up their schedules online. I just googled “Phillies schedule” and “Reds schedule” and found their official pages pretty easily. They had these nice, big calendars showing all their games.

Getting the Games

Next, I needed to figure out how to actually watch the games. Since I don’t have cable, I checked to see if they were streaming anywhere.

  • I tried a couple of different streaming services, but it could be different depending on area.
  • I read some articles to try and figure out the best way to watch the games.

So, I ended up making sure I knew when the games were and set reminder in my calender. I made sure everything was set up beforehand, and I grabbed some snacks and drinks.

Watching and Following Along

Then came the fun part – actually watching! I turned on the first game (Phillies vs. someone, I can’t remember who). At first, I was kinda lost. I mean, I knew the basic rules of baseball, but all the little details? No clue.

So, while I watched, I also started Googling things. Like, “What’s a double play?” or “What does ERA mean?”. I found some helpful websites that explained baseball terms in plain English, which was a lifesaver.

I also found it useful to look up the players. I’d see a guy’s name on the screen, and then I’d quickly search for him online to learn a bit about his background and stats. It helped me feel more connected to the game, like I actually knew who these people were.

As I watched more games, I started to pick up on the strategies and the rivalries. I even started to recognize some of the players without having to look them up! It was actually pretty cool to see myself learning and getting more into it with each game.

I’ve been keeping this up for a few weeks now, and I’m definitely getting more invested in the Phillies and the Reds. I still have a ton to learn, but it’s been a fun process so far. Who knows, maybe I’ll even become a real baseball fan one of these days!
