Okay, so today I wanted to try making “sweetannabella” – I’d seen some pictures online and it looked kinda fancy, but also simple enough for a cooking newbie like me. So, I thought, why not give it a shot?

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to figure out what this thing even was. After a quick search, I found out it’s basically layers of puff pastry, custard cream, and usually some fruit. Sounded good to me!
I didn’t have a specific recipe, so I kinda winged it. I grabbed a box of pre-made puff pastry from the store (because, let’s be real, making that from scratch is way too much effort). I also picked up some instant vanilla pudding mix for the custard, and a container of fresh strawberries.
The “Baking” Process (aka Assembling)
- I unrolled the puff pastry and cut it into squares. The size didn’t really matter, I just eyeballed it.
- Then, I popped them onto a baking sheet and stuck them in the oven. I just followed the instructions on the puff pastry box for the temperature and time.
- While those were baking, I whipped up the instant pudding according to the package directions. Super easy, just milk and the powder.
- I washed and sliced up the strawberries.
- Once the pastry squares were golden brown and puffy, I took them out of the oven and let them cool.
Putting it all Together
This was the fun part! Once everything was cool enough to handle, I started layering. I put a pastry square down, spooned some pudding on top, added a few strawberry slices, and then repeated the process. I ended up making little stacks with three layers of pastry.
I’m no food stylist, so they weren’t exactly picture-perfect, but hey, they looked pretty good! And more importantly, they tasted amazing. The flaky pastry, the creamy pudding, and the sweet strawberries – it all just worked together.
So, yeah, that was my “sweetannabella” adventure. It was a fun little experiment, and definitely something I’d make again. It’s perfect for a quick and easy dessert, and you can totally customize it with different fruits or even chocolate pudding. Go try, and enjoy it!
