Okay, so I saw this thing on TikTok, this “window punch” by Aimee Murphy, and I thought, “I gotta try that!” It looked so cool and surprisingly simple. I’m all about easy crafts that make a big impact, you know?

Gathering My Supplies
First things first, I needed to grab my supplies. I already had a bunch of colored paper – I’m a bit of a paper hoarder, I confess. I also had some scissors and glue, of course. The main thing was the circle punch. I didn’t have one of those fancy ones like Aimee used, but I figured my regular old hole punch would do the trick. It’s a bit smaller, but hey, gotta work with what you’ve got, right?
Punching and Folding
So, I started punching. And punching. And punching. My hand started to get a little tired, I’m not gonna lie. I punched out circles from different shades of blue and green paper, thinking it would give it a nice, layered look, kinda like stained glass. Then came the folding. Aimee made it look so effortless, but I fumbled a bit at first. I folded each circle in half, then in half again, and then one more time. Basically, you want to end up with a little triangle-ish shape.
Creating the Window Frame
I cut out a simple window frame from some black cardstock. Just a basic rectangle with a few lines to make it look like window panes. Nothing fancy, but it did the job. I wanted the focus to be on the colorful “glass” anyway.
Gluing Everything Together
Now for the fun part – putting it all together! I started gluing the folded circles onto the back of the window frame. I overlapped them a bit, trying to create a random, organic pattern. It was a little messy, I got glue on my fingers, but it was all part of the process. I kept adding circles until the whole window frame was filled. It took a while, but it was super satisfying to see it come together.
The Finished Product!
And…done! I held it up to the light, and it looked pretty darn good, if I do say so myself! It’s not exactly like Aimee’s, but I think it has its own charm. The smaller circles actually created a cool, textured effect. Plus, I used what I had on hand, which is always a win in my book. I am happy with how I created this beautiful artwork!
I might try this again with a bigger circle punch sometime, but for now, I’m pretty happy with my little DIY window punch art.
