Okay, so the other day I was watching this American cooking show, and they kept mentioning temperatures in Fahrenheit. I’m like, “80 degrees? Is that hot? Cold? What am I even dealing with?” I’m so used to Celsius, it’s all just gibberish to me.
So, I decided to figure this out once and for all. First, I grabbed my phone and just Googled “80 Fahrenheit in Celsius”. I mean, that’s the easiest way, right?
The Quick Google Search
Boom! Right there at the top of the search results, Google gave me the answer. It said something like:
80 degrees Fahrenheit = 26.67 degrees Celsius
Okay, so 26.67 degrees. That’s… kinda warm, right? Like a nice summer day. I could picture myself sitting outside, maybe with a cool drink. Good to know.
But How Do They Get That Number?
But then I thought, “Wait a minute. How does that even work? There’s gotta be a formula or something.” I’m not really a math whiz, but I was curious. I scrolled down a bit on the search results page, looking for the actual conversion method.
I found a bunch of websites explaining it, and it looked a little intimidating at first. It involved subtracting, multiplying, and dividing all in one go. But it really is pretty simple
There were some very complicated examples, but I am only sharing the simple formula I used.
- Step 1: Subtrack 32 from 80, I did (80 – 32 = 48). Easy so far.
- Step 2: Multiply 48 by 5, I did (48 5 =240).
- Step 3: Then the result in the previous step divide by 9, I did(240 / 9 = 26.6666667).And finally, there you have it!
So, the answer is 26.67. We got the same number. That is how it’s done!
It’s not something I’ll probably remember off the top of my head, but at least now I know there’s a way to figure it out if I ever need to. And hey, at least I know that 80 degrees Fahrenheit isn’t freezing cold or boiling hot!
