Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, channeling my inner “Gen Z boss meme” energy, detailing my TikTok experiment:
Alright, so the other day, I was scrolling through TikTok, like you do, and I kept seeing these “Gen Z boss” memes. You know, the ones where they’re like, “My Gen Z boss told me to ‘spill the tea’ on the Q3 reports,” or whatever. And I thought, “Hmm, I wonder if I can actually make one of these go viral?” Challenge accepted, obviously.
The Setup
First, I needed a concept. I decided to go with the classic “corporate speak vs. Gen Z speak” angle. I figured that was relatable, even if you weren’t actually a boss. I mean, who hasn’t been confused by some random business jargon at some point?
I brainstormed a few scenarios. Like, picture this: a super serious-looking PowerPoint slide with some ridiculous heading like “Synergizing Core Competencies for Optimal Value Proposition,” and then my reaction as the “Gen Z boss” just being completely baffled.
The Execution
Next, I grabbed my phone and opened up CapCut. Because let’s be real, who has time for fancy video editing software? I found a royalty-free image of a generic office meeting room. That’s step one.
Then, I used CapCut’s text feature to create a text overlay on the background image, it said something stupidly corporate, like, “Leveraging Cross-Functional Collaboration to Enhance Brand Visibility.” I even made sure to use a super boring font, Arial, size 12. Maximum corporate vibes.

- Find boring office background. Check.
- Add corporate jargon text. Double-check.
- Record a “reaction” video and slap it over the image with CapCut.
The fun part was filming my reaction. I put on my best “confused but trying to be cool” face, and added a voiceover using one of the trending TikTok sounds – that sped-up, chipmunk-sounding one. My voiceover was basically me saying, “Wait, what does that even…like, can someone translate this into, you know, English?” I also did my best with acting, the goal was to look as much like a “deer in headlights” as possible.
I spent, like, maybe 15 minutes messing with the timing and adding some silly stickers. Gotta have those. I threw in a few hashtags, like #genzboss #corporatelife #workmemes #relatable, hoping for the best.
The Result
And… I posted it! Honestly, I didn’t expect much. But within a few hours, it started getting a lot more views than my usual stuff. People were commenting, saying things like “OMG, this is my life” and “My boss actually talks like this.” Then, others starting to share their thoughts, I interacted with them and I tried to be the “Gen Z Boss” as much as I could.
It wasn’t, like, super viral, but it definitely did better than I thought it would. I even got a few comments asking for a “part 2.” Which, of course, I’m already planning. Gotta keep the content flowing, right?
So, yeah, that’s my Gen Z boss meme TikTok adventure. It was a fun little experiment, and it proved that sometimes, the simplest ideas are the ones that resonate the most. And that TikTok’s algorithm is a mysterious beast that I will never fully understand.
