Chris Godwin Fantasy Outlook: Is He a WR1 This Season?

Alright, so I’ve been getting super into fantasy football lately, and I wanted to share my experience with drafting and managing Chris Godwin on my team. I feel like I’ve learned a lot.

Chris Godwin Fantasy Outlook: Is He a WR1 This Season?

Getting Started with Godwin

First things first, I joined a couple of leagues – one with some buddies and another more competitive one online. I did a bunch of mock drafts beforehand, just to get a feel for where players were generally going. I noticed Godwin was kinda all over the place, depending on the league. Sometimes he’d go in the 4th round, other times he’d slip to the 5th or even 6th.

The Draft

In my friend’s league, I snagged him in the 5th round, which I felt was a total steal. I was stoked! I knew he had some injury concerns, but I was willing to take the risk. His upside when he’s healthy is just huge. He’s a target monster, especially in PPR formats.

The Early Season Struggles

Man, the first few weeks were ROUGH. He either didn’t play or was on a snap count. My team was hurting. I started second-guessing myself. Should I have gone with someone more reliable? Maybe, But, I stuck with him, and I put him on my bench and picked up a few other WR players, from the free agent list, just in case.

The Turnaround

Then, boom! Around Week 6 or 7, he started looking like the Godwin of old. He was getting tons of targets, racking up receptions, and even scoring some touchdowns. My patience (and a little bit of luck) paid off.

Managing the Ups and Downs

It hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows, of course. There have been a few games where he’s been quiet, and I’m sure there will be more. That’s just the nature of fantasy football, especially with wide receivers. You gotta be ready for the fluctuations. If you look at Godwin’s stats you will find that.

What I’ve Learned

  • Patience is key: Don’t panic if a player starts slow, especially if they have a track record of success.
  • Upside matters: Godwin’s potential to put up huge numbers is what makes him worth the risk.
  • Always be monitoring the waiver wire: Having backup options is crucial, especially with injury-prone players.

I scoured the waiver wire every week, looking for potential replacements or bye-week fill-ins.

  • Trust your gut (sometimes): I had a good feeling about Godwin, and even though it was tough at times, I’m glad I stuck with him.

Overall, having Chris Godwin on my fantasy team has been a rollercoaster, but a fun one. He’s helped me win some crucial matchups, and even when he’s had a bad week, I know he has the potential to explode at any moment. That’s what makes him such an exciting player to have on your roster. Wish me luck for the rest of the season!
