Alright folks, let me tell you about my weekend project – mounting a TV. I know, sounds simple, right? But trust me, it was a whole adventure.

It all started last Saturday. I woke up, had my coffee, and thought, “Today’s the day! I’m finally getting that TV up on the wall.” I’d been putting it off for weeks, mainly because I hate dealing with wires.

First things first, I gathered my supplies. Stud finder, drill, level, measuring tape, pencil, and the TV mount itself. I even watched a couple of YouTube videos just to refresh my memory. You know, “measure twice, cut once” kinda thing.

Finding the studs was the first challenge. My stud finder is… well, let’s just say it’s not the most reliable. It kept beeping everywhere! After about half an hour of trial and error (and a few extra holes in the wall, oops!), I finally located two solid studs.

Next up, attaching the mount to the wall. This part was pretty straightforward. I marked the holes, pre-drilled, and then screwed the mount in. I made sure to use a level to ensure it was perfectly straight. No one wants a crooked TV!

Then came the tricky part – attaching the brackets to the back of the TV. The instructions were, as usual, not very helpful. I spent a good 20 minutes just figuring out which screws to use. Eventually, I got it sorted.

With the brackets on, it was time to lift the TV onto the mount. Now, my TV is a 55-inch, and I’m not exactly a bodybuilder. I managed to get it up there, but it was a struggle. I almost dropped it a couple of times. Definitely recommend having a friend help with this step!

Finally, the TV was on the wall! But the wire situation was a mess. Cables dangling everywhere. I spent another hour routing them behind the wall using some cable ties and clips. It’s not perfect, but it’s a lot cleaner than it was before.

Here’s a list of things I learned:

  • A good stud finder is worth its weight in gold. Seriously, invest in one.
  • Measure everything twice (or even three times).
  • Get a friend to help you lift the TV. Your back will thank you.
  • Cable management is a pain, but it’s worth it in the end.

All in all, it took me about four hours from start to finish. Was it worth it? Absolutely! The TV looks great on the wall, and I finally have some extra space in my living room. Plus, I learned a few things along the way. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go watch some Netflix and admire my handiwork.
