Today I wanna share my experience about diving into the story of some guy called “Equality 7-2521”. I just started reading this book called “Anthem,” and the main character got my attention.
So, I grabbed the book and started reading. This guy, Equality 7-2521, seems to be different from everyone else in his society. He’s got this curious mind, and he’s into science, which is a big no-no in his world.
As I read more, I learned about his struggles. He wants to use his talents, but the big shots, the World Council, are all about keeping everyone the same. It’s like they don’t want anyone to stand out or be special. Equality 7-2521 is smart and creative, but he’s supposed to just follow the rules and not think for himself.

- I marked the parts where he starts questioning the rules of his society.
- I even highlighted some quotes that show his strong will, like when he says stuff about being his own person.
The more I read, the more I got into his journey. He ends up getting into trouble with the Council because he’s late, and he won’t tell them where he’s been. That’s when things start to get real intense. And I was totally captivated by the whole scene where Equality 7-2521 realizes he made this thing, a lightbulb, just because he wanted to, not because he was told to.
My Thoughts on Equality 7-2521
I jotted down some thoughts about how this character is not just some rebel. He’s like a symbol of wanting to be free to think and create. His name, “Equality,” is ironic because he’s anything but equal to the others in his society. He’s special.
I was really hooked by how the author made me care about this character. I was so curious to see what would happen next. And when he finally ran away to the forest, a place he’s not supposed to go, I was like, “Yes! Go for it!”
Wrapping up my reading for the day, I reflected on how powerful this story is. It’s not just about one guy’s adventure. It’s about the importance of being yourself, even when everyone else wants you to be like them. I closed the book, feeling pretty inspired and eager to see where Equality 7-2521’s journey takes him next.
