Man, I gotta tell you about this crazy horse race I just watched. It’s called the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, and it’s a huge deal in France, even bigger than the Kentucky Derby.
So, I figured since it’s such a big event, I gotta find a way to watch it. This year, it took place on Sunday, October 6th, I set a reminder in my phone. The race was at 3:20 PM local time in France, so I had to do some quick math to figure out the time difference, you know. I heard that it’s going to be broadcasted live on major sports channels. So, I subscribed to some sports channels, and that set me up to watch it live.
I marked my calendar, and when the day came, I was ready. I grabbed some snacks, got comfy on the couch, and tuned in.
Let me tell you, the atmosphere was electric, even through the TV. The race is held at this place called Longchamp Racecourse in Paris. It’s a long race, 2400 meters, which is like a mile and a half. I found that out from some quick searching online – apparently, it’s been going on since 1920!
Watching those horses run was amazing. They were moving so fast. This year, a British horse named Bluestocking won. Some young Irish jockey named Rossa Ryan rode it, if I remember correctly. It was cool to see all the British fans there, singing along to their national anthem and everything after the race.
From what I read, this race is a big deal, money-wise. It is the most lucrative race of the European racing season. The winning is more than the Kentucky Derby.
