Okay, so today I decided to sketch a golf club. I’ve been playing a bit more golf lately, and I thought, why not try drawing one? It seemed like a fun little challenge.

First, I grabbed my sketchbook and a few pencils. I have a set with different grades, you know, from hard to soft. I like having options, even though I’m no pro.
Getting Started
I started with a really light pencil, I think it was a 2H. Just to get the basic shape down, you know? I drew a long, slightly curved line for the shaft. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, it’s a sketch!
- Made a rough oval shape for the club head.
- Added a little rectangle-ish thing where the shaft meets the head – that’s the hosel, I think?
Adding Details
Then I switched to a slightly softer pencil, maybe a HB. I started to refine the shape of the club head, making it a bit more… well, club-head-like. It’s kind of like a rounded triangle, but not quite. I erased some of the initial lines that were way off.
I focused on the club face, trying to get that slight curve right. Golf clubs aren’t flat, are they? There’s that bulge and roll, or whatever they call it. I’m still learning all the lingo.
- darked the lines.
- added the grooves on the club face. Just some simple lines, really.
Finishing Up
Finally, I used a darker pencil, like a 2B or 4B, to add some shading. This is where it really started to look like something! I added some darker areas to give it a bit of a 3D feel. Nothing fancy, just enough to make it pop a little.

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! It’s not perfect, by any means, but it definitely looks like a golf club. It was a fun little exercise, and maybe I’ll try drawing some other golf stuff later. A golf ball? A tee? We’ll see!
