Starting My Utah Jazz 2007 Game Dive
Alright, so yesterday I decided to revisit those epic 2007 Utah Jazz games. Pulled out my old external hard drive where I keep all my sports stuff. Figured I’d make some killer highlight reels while I’m at it.

Hitting My First Wall Already
Took me like an hour just to find the dang game files! They were buried in some folder labeled “Misc Basketball Crap”. Opened one and the video quality looked like mashed potatoes – must’ve been ripped from ancient DVDs. My editing software choked on the files too.
- First try: Threw the clips into basic video editor
- Total fail: Timestamps were all messed up
- Second try: Software crashed when I tried cropping
Remembering How Deron Williams Cooked
Finally found that Rockets game from January where D-Will dropped 41 points. Watched him break down the defense like it was nothing. Wanted to clip those insane crossover moves for my reel. But half the clips had garbage audio – could barely hear the commentators yelling.
Had to manually fix the audio sync on like 30 clips. My computer fan sounded like a jet engine the whole time. Accidentally deleted three good plays and had to re-cut them. So annoying!
The Playoff Gold Mine
The Warriors series highlights? Absolute fire. Searched my messy folders for Game 2 where Fisher made that crazy buzzer-beater. Found the file but some idiot put the wrong game label! Couldn’t believe I wasted 20 minutes watching the wrong quarter.
Used this trick though:

- Tagged each clutch moment with player names
- Sorted Boozer’s post moves separately
- Made separate AK47 defensive montages
When Technology Fights Back
Tried adding some hype music behind Kirilenko’s blocks. Copyright bots instantly flagged my test upload. Deleted everything and screamed into a pillow. Ended up using just the arena crowd noise instead – actually made it feel more raw.
Rendering took forever! Made a sandwich while waiting. Previewed the final reel and spotted a typo in the title card. Had to redo the whole export. Almost threw my mouse.
What Actually Works For Reels
After this headache, here’s what sticks:
- Group plays by player, not game date
- Shorten transitions – eyes glaze over
- Crowd noise generic music
- Always double-check file labels
So yeah, took me like 8 hours for 5 minutes of clips. Worth it when you see AK47 swatting shots into the stands though. Might rewatch Game 7 against Houston tonight while my laptop cools down.
