Blackhawks Trumpet Intro: Why Is It So Popular and So Catchy for Hockey Lovers

Alright, so, I’ve been trying to figure out this whole “Blackhawks trumpet intro” thing. You know, that tune they play at the Chicago Blackhawks games? It’s called “Here Come the Hawks!” I had no idea.

First, I started digging around to find out what the heck that intro music even was. Turns out, it’s a song written way back in 1968 by some guy named J. Swayzee. And it’s been the team’s official fight song ever since. Who knew?

Then, I got curious about how often they play it. Turns out, it’s during the pre-game video. I guess that makes sense to get everyone pumped up. They play it, and then a video, and then the game starts. I’ve probably heard it a million times and never even realized it was a real song.

Next, I went down a rabbit hole of NHL goal songs. Every team has one. The Blackhawks have that “Chelsea Dagger” song by The Fratellis, which is kind of catchy. They play a little snippet of it after every goal.

I learned that the Blackhawks have won six Stanley Cups, which is pretty cool. They’re one of the “Original Six” teams, which I guess is a big deal in hockey. I don’t follow sports much, to be honest, so this is all new to me.

  • The Blackhawks won 6 Stanley Cups.
  • They are one of the “Original Six”.
  • Their intro song is “Here Come the Hawks!”.
  • Their goal song is “Chelsea Dagger”.

I even found out that the first Blackhawks logo was designed by some lady named Irene Castle. I don’t know, I just found that interesting.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my little journey of discovery about the Blackhawks’ intro music. It was way more interesting than I thought it would be. I guess I’m becoming a hockey fan after all.

Additional Notes

I also stumbled upon some other goal songs from different teams. Like, the Detroit Red Wings have a song called “Hey, Hey, Hockeytown,” and the Dallas Stars use a heavy metal song by Pantera. It’s all pretty wild.

So yeah, that’s my story about the “Blackhawks trumpet intro.” It was a fun little research project. Now, when I hear that music, I’ll actually know what it is. I’m still learning, but at least now I know a little more about the team and its music.
