Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my BMW F 900 GS, specifically trying to get the seat height just right. I’m not the tallest guy, so this was kinda important for me.

First, I checked out the stock seat. It felt okay, but I knew I could do better. I wanted to be able to flat-foot it at stops, you know, for that extra bit of confidence.
My Seat Fiddling Process
- The Standard Check: I sat on the bike, straight up, in my usual riding gear. My feet could touch, but not flat. Hmm.
- Lowering Kit Research: I started looking into lowering kits. There are a bunch of options out there, but I was a little worried about messing with the suspension geometry too much.
- Seat Options:This is what I focused on!I found out BMW offers different seat options for the F 900 GS, including a low seat. Bingo!
- Trying the Low Seat:I got my hand on a low seat. Swapped it out with the stock one – pretty easy, just a few bolts.
- The Test Sit (Again):I hopped back on. HUGE difference! I could comfortably flat-foot it now. No tippy-toes!
- Adjusting the Suspension (Slightly):Even with the lower seat,I did a little bit setting on the rear * a tiny bit,to get it to get a perfect setting for my weight.
Finally,I think it’s great now.I mean, the low seat made the biggest difference. Swapping that out was super simple, and it gave me the reach I needed without messing up the bike’s handling.
I don’t plan on messing the bike up.
