Hey everyone, I’ve been wanting to talk about my experience with the BMW XR 900. I finally got my hands on this bad boy, and let me tell you, it’s been quite a ride!
First off, I went down to the BMW Motorcycles dealership in my city. They’ve got all sorts of bikes there – Sport, Tour, Roadster, you name it. But I had my eyes set on the XR 900. I had to look around for a bit, and finally got it.
Getting Started
I started by just getting a feel for the bike. It’s got a 895 cc engine, 6-speed manual – pretty standard stuff. They told me it’s priced around 13,75,000, a bit high but it’s a BMW so what do you expect? I also heard about this Triumph Tiger 900, which is a bit more expensive, but I was already sold on the BMW.
Then I took it out for a spin. This thing’s got two riding modes – Rain and Road. I mostly stuck to Road, but it was cool knowing I had the option for Rain. The XR 900 also comes with a six-axis IMU, which I guess is some fancy tech that helps with stability. I didn’t really notice it, but it’s nice to know it’s there, feels safer.
Hitting the Road
The real fun began when I took it out on the highway. This bike is meant for long-distance riding, and it definitely lives up to that. The seating position is comfortable, even after hours of riding. They said they changed the handlebar and footrest positions, and it feels pretty good. The seat is comfy, and the engine’s got plenty of power for overtaking. And those upside-down forks with adjustable rebound – yeah, those are awesome. Makes the ride super smooth. It’s not just a claim, XR really stands for long-distance performance.
Final Thoughts
So, after spending a good amount of time with the BMW XR 900, I’d say it’s a solid choice for anyone looking for an adventure sport bike. There was also tax to think about, something like 117 a year. It’s not cheap, but you’re getting a lot of bike for your money. Plus, it’s a BMW – it’s got that cool factor. I rode it around, took it to work, even did a little road trip. It’s been a blast. I guess you could say I’m pretty happy with my purchase.
