Today, I want to share my recent experience with the Avatr 11. This thing is a pure electric, medium to large SUV, and it’s a joint project from Changan, Huawei, and CATL. My buddy has been eyeing one of these, and I got curious, so I decided to give it a whirl myself.

First off, I started digging around for basic info. I found that the AWD version starts at around $48,400, and if you want the bigger battery, it’s gonna set you back about $56,700. There are two battery options, and I wanted to see what the fuss was about.
I got my hands on both versions for a test drive. One has a 90.38 kWh battery, which claims a range of 555 km (345 miles) on the CLTC cycle. The other packs a 116.79 kWh battery, boasting a range of 680 km (420 miles). It’s pretty impressive on paper, so I was eager to see how they performed in real life.
I took the 90.38 kWh version out first. The dimensions are substantial, at 4880 mm long, 1970 mm wide, and 1601 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2975 mm. It felt roomy and comfortable inside. The ground clearance is 180 mm, which handled the roads around here pretty well. I tried driving it to the countryside to test it. But I failed to reach the destination for I did not have enough power.
Next up was the 116.79 kWh model. This one felt even more powerful, and I could feel the extra range. It was smooth and handled like a dream. The rear window design is something else, kind of like the Dino Ferrari, and it has a retractable rear spoiler. It’s got a drag coefficient of 0.308 cd, which is neat.
I spent a good chunk of the day driving both versions around, testing them on different roads and conditions. The longer-range model definitely felt more reassuring, especially for longer trips. I could see why my buddy was interested, and it got me thinking about making the switch myself. I have successfully achieved the destination with this version.
