Caleb Plant Punches Landed: See How Many Blows He Delivered in His Latest Fight!

Okay, so I’ve been getting into boxing lately, and I really wanted to see how many punches Caleb Plant actually landed in some of his fights. I decided to dive into some of his matches and break it down.

First, I started with his most recent win against Trevor McCumby. This one was a big deal, a WBA Interim World Super Middleweight championship fight. It went down on September 14, 2024, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. I watched the whole thing, and man, it was intense! Plant took him out by technical knockout in the 9th round. It was pretty clear that Plant was dominating.

Then I dug into the fight with Canelo Alvarez in November 2021. I found these stats from CompuBox, and they said that 53 of the 117 punches Alvarez landed were body blows. That got me thinking about how many Plant landed. I watched the fight again, paying close attention. The commentators were going nuts over Canelo’s combinations, but Plant was blocking a lot of them. It looked like every punch was landing, but when you watched closely, a lot were blocked. It was a real back-and-forth battle.

Watching the Videos

  • Canelo vs. Plant: I found this highlight reel on, and it showed all the major hits. In just three minutes, you can see how fierce the fight was. Canelo landed some crazy power punches, but Plant was right there, giving it back.
  • Plant vs. Truax: Next, I looked at Plant’s fight against Caleb Truax. The stats said Plant landed 179 punches to Truax’s 47, and 41.8% of Plant’s power punches connected. I found some clips, and yeah, Plant was all over Truax. Truax only landed 3.9 punches per round. It was a pretty one-sided fight.

In the Canelo fight, the stats showed Canelo only landed 117 of 361 punches, which is about 32%. But what surprised me was how little Plant got hit by Benavidez in another fight I watched. That made me think Plant’s defense is better than people give him credit for.

In the end of the Canelo fight, the ref called it in the 11th round. Plant got back up after getting knocked down, but Canelo was just too much and finished him off at 1:05 of the round. I rewatched that part a few times. It was brutal.

I spent a good chunk of time watching these fights, pausing, rewinding, and really trying to count the punches. It’s tough to do because they move so fast, but it gives you a whole new appreciation for the sport. I’m not saying I’m an expert now, but I definitely have a better understanding of how these fights go down and how effective Plant is, both offensively and defensively.

Overall, it was a pretty cool experience. I got to see some great fights and learn a bit more about boxing. Plus, it was fun to play detective and try to figure out the punch counts. Boxing is way more complicated than it looks!
