So, I finally got around to playing Bezuidenhout Golf the other day. Heard a bit about it, figured I’d give it a shot myself, you know, see what it’s actually like on the ground.

Getting Started

Woke up, grabbed my clubs, and headed over. Finding the place wasn’t too bad. Pulling in, it looked like a regular golf spot, nothing too fancy, which is fine by me. Just wanted to hit some balls. Went into the clubhouse, pretty standard stuff, got myself sorted out. The folks there were alright, pointed me where I needed to go. Didn’t hang around too much, just wanted to get onto the course.

Out on the Course

Rolled up to the first tee. Took a look down the fairway. Seemed straightforward enough to start. Took my first swing… well, let’s just say it went mostly forward. Good start, right? The first few holes went by okay. Some were pretty open, let you really try and smack it. Others were a bit tighter, made you think a little more, which isn’t always my strong suit!

I remember one par 3, had water right in front. Always gets in your head, doesn’t it? Stood there for a bit, took a deep breath, and managed to get it over. Felt pretty good about that one. Then, a couple holes later, I completely duffed a chip shot. Like, barely moved the ball. Frustrating! But hey, that’s golf. You get the good and the bad.

The course itself was kept alright. Fairways were decent, greens were okay too. Not lightning fast, not super slow, just… fine. You could make putts if you hit them right. Saw a few other groups out there, but it didn’t feel too crowded, which was nice. Didn’t have to wait around too much between shots.

  • Finding my ball in the rough a few times (okay, maybe more than a few).
  • Trying to judge the distance on some of those longer holes.
  • Actually sinking a decent length putt on maybe the 15th? Can’t remember exactly, but it felt good.

Wrapping Up

Finished up the round. Felt like I’d played, you know? Had some good moments, had some shockers. Overall, it was a solid day out. Nothing spectacular, maybe, but just a decent round of golf. Packed up my gear, headed out. It did the job. Would I go back? Yeah, probably. It’s a straightforward place to just get out and play 18 holes without much fuss.
