Hey everyone, today I wanna talk about something I recently dove into – the 2017 New York Yankees roster. Yeah, I’m a bit of a baseball nerd, and the Yankees have always been a team I follow closely. So, I got curious about their 2017 lineup and started digging.

First off, I pulled up some general info about the team’s performance that year. Turns out, they did pretty well, finishing with a 91-71 record. Not bad at all! They ended up second in the AL East, which is a tough division, and made it all the way to the ALCS. That’s where they hit a wall against the Houston Astros, but still, a solid season.
Then, I wanted to get into the nitty-gritty and see who was actually on the team. I found a few different sites that listed the roster. Let me tell you, it’s a long list! Baseball teams have a ton of players, between the starting lineup, the bench, and all the pitchers. And don’t even get me started on the minor league affiliates and that kind of stuff.
I also stumbled upon some interesting tidbits about the Yankees’ appearance policy. Apparently, since way back in 1976, they’ve had this rule where players’ hair can’t touch their collars, and they can only have mustaches, no other facial hair. Kinda strict, right?
What I really wanted to find out was the names of some standout players. I saw that Derek Jeter holds the record for most career hits as a Yankee, with a crazy 3,465! Of course, he wasn’t on the 2017 team since he retired, but it was still a cool fact. Then there’s Lou Gehrig, another legend, with 2,721 hits.
Then I focused on finding the best hitters, pitchers, and any other interesting players from 2017. I started combing through a lot of data to get to the good stuff. It was a bit overwhelming at first, with all the stats for batting averages, home runs, ERAs, and all that. But I kept at it.

I began to compile my own list of key players from that 2017 team. I was looking at the season statistics. I spent quite a bit of time cross-referencing information from different sources to make sure I was getting accurate data, as I wanted to find the most complete and accurate 2017 roster for the Yankees. It was definitely a bit of a rabbit hole, but it was also really rewarding. I ended up learning a lot more about baseball than I expected!
Final Thoughts
Overall, this little project was a fun way to kill some time and learn more about one of my favorite baseball teams. It reminded me how much I enjoy just geeking out over sports and stats. Maybe next time, I’ll dive into another team’s history. Any suggestions?
