So, I’ve been diving deep into this game, you know, the new Civ 7. Man, it’s a whole different beast this time around. I jumped in, all excited to pick my favorite leader and start building my empire, but guess what? It’s not like the old days.

In this one, you don’t just pick a leader and boom, you’re representing that Civ from the get-go. Nah, it’s way more involved than that. You gotta, like, earn your way to becoming the big boss of your civilization. It makes the start of the game really interesting, kinda levels the playing field, you know?
I spent a good chunk of time just figuring out the new mechanics. At first, I tried my usual strategy, rushing to build up my military, but that didn’t get me very far. Had to rethink everything. I started focusing on building up my cities, assigning resources, and keeping an eye on the gold.
- Started a new game, picked a random spot on the map.
- Built my first city, started exploring. Found some nice resource spots.
- Ran into another civilization early on. Had to play nice, didn’t want a war right away.
- Assigned my resources to my city. Started seeing a nice income of gold.
- Realized the more resources I assigned, the more gold I got, especially as I moved through the ages. It’s like a nice bonus.
It felt kinda slow at first, not gonna lie. I’m used to just steamrolling through the early game. But then I started to get it. The game really makes you think about every decision. Each resource you assign, each building you construct, it all adds up. After I understood this and learned the new mechanics about the resource and gold, I got my first leader.
Trying Out the Warrior-Queen of Zazzau
Then I decided to check out the Warrior-Queen of Zazzau. She’s got this cool ability where you get extra resource capacity in your cities. Plus, for every resource you assign, you get bonus gold per age. And to top it off, a sweet +5 combat strength. That’s a game-changer right there. I made a new save to play her.
With her, I switched up my strategy. Focused even more on grabbing those resources and developing them. The extra gold really helped me expand quickly, and that combat bonus? Let’s just say my neighbors learned to respect me real quick. She is a powerful leader I must say.

I’m still experimenting with different strategies and leaders. It’s a lot to take in, but that’s what makes it fun, right? Every game feels fresh, and you’re always learning something new. You guys should definitely give it a shot. It’s a whole new world in Civ 7, and I’m here for it.
