Corbetts Dam History: Easy-to-Understand Facts for All!

Okay, so today I messed around with “Corbett’s Dam.” It all started when I stumbled upon some pictures of it online. Man, it looked cool, so I thought, “Why not try to recreate something like that in, you know, my own way?”

First, I gathered some references. I just googled “Corbett’s Dam” and saved a bunch of images. Different angles, you know, close-ups, far-away shots. Just to get a good feel for the place. The whole thing is to capture it’s likeness as much as possible.

Next, I started sketching. Just rough outlines, nothing fancy. Tried to get the basic shapes down – the curve of the dam, the spillway, the surrounding rocks, the water flow, all the elements that make up the iconic scene of the dam. It took a few tries, kept erasing and redrawing, and gradually the shape came into view.

  • Drew the main curve of the dam.
  • Added the spillway (where the water goes over).
  • Roughly sketched the surrounding rocks.
  • Blocked the background environment.
  • Made the lines bolder.

So After sketching, I added colors!

I finally, added some details. More rocks, some textures on the dam itself, maybe some plants. I added highlights and shadows with some brushes. Just to give it a more realistic look, played around with the brush settings until it felt right.

Finally, I added some extra touches. Like maybe a bit of mist or fog, or the water is sparkling in the sun. Also the color of the sky is not to be forgotten. Just little things to make it pop. And that’s really it! It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It was a fun little project, and I learned a bit more about, well, drawing dams, I guess! I’ll do more practice like this later.
