My Morning Routine and the Loperfido News
Okay, so the other day, I was just going through my usual morning stuff. You know, coffee, checking the phone for anything important. Then I saw it – a notification popped up about Joey Loperfido getting the call up to the Astros. Didn’t expect that right when I woke up.
My first thought was, “Huh, alright.” I’d heard his name buzzing around a bit from the minors, Sugar Land I think. People were saying he was hitting the ball pretty hard down there. It always perks up your ears when a team brings up a new guy, especially with how things have been going sometimes.
What I Did Next
So, naturally, I got a bit curious. Didn’t do a deep dive, mind you, I’m no scout. Just did a quick search while my coffee was cooling.
- Pulled up some basic stats from his time in Triple-A. Looked like he had some decent pop in his bat. Saw the home run numbers.
- Tried to find a quick video clip or two. Found one showing a swing, looked pretty smooth.
- Read a small news bit about it, just the basics on why the team made the move. Usually, it’s injuries or someone needing a spark.
It wasn’t like I spent hours on it. Just enough to get a feel for why people were talking about him. It’s always interesting to see these young players get their shot. You never know who might stick and make a real difference.
Watching and Waiting
Later on, I made sure to check the box score after their game. Wanted to see if he got in, how he did. It’s kind of like watching a plant grow, you just check in now and then.
Seeing a new name in the lineup is always a bit exciting. Gives you something different to watch. Sometimes these call-ups fizzle out fast, other times they surprise you. That’s baseball, I guess.
