Okay, so today I’m gonna talk about my little adventure with the Del Mar racing form. You know, the thing you use to figure out which horse to bet on? Yeah, that thing.

First off, I went to the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club’s website. I was curious, I wanted to find out everything about the races. They’ve got all sorts of stuff there. You can find live news, schedules. Everything you need to know, you can find it there.
Then I thought, “Where can I get my hands on one of these racing forms?” A quick search led me to a website where you can not only view but also edit, sign, share, and download forms and other stuff.
Getting the Form
I went to the website, signed up, and there it was – the Del Mar racing form. It’s pretty detailed, I gotta say. It lists all the horses, jockeys, trainers, past performance, and a bunch of other stats. Honestly, it was a bit overwhelming at first. But hey, I was determined.
Understanding the Form
Next, I had to figure out how to read this thing. I mean, it’s not exactly straightforward. There are all these abbreviations and numbers. It took me a while, but I started to get the hang of it. I also found this other site that provides form guides. It’s kinda like a cheat sheet, telling you how each horse is likely to perform. Pretty handy, if you ask me.
Looking for Tips
I’m no expert, so I figured I’d look for some tips. I stumbled upon some guy named Jeff Siegel who seems to know his stuff. He’s got this “What You Need to Know” section for each race. He even grades the races and gives out his top picks. I’m not sure how accurate he is, but I thought I’d give it a shot. Oh, and by the way, I found out that a middle seat ticket to the races will cost me around $30.

Putting It All Together
So, I spent the next few hours studying the form, reading Jeff’s tips, and checking out the form guides. It was a lot of information to take in, but it was kinda fun. I felt like I was cracking some secret code or something.
The End Result
Did I become a horse racing expert overnight? Nope. Did I win a bunch of money? I wish. But I did learn a lot. And it was an interesting experience. I might even try it again sometime. If I do go to the race again, I might also check out a website called RTN. I heard that if you subscribe to them, you can get a live broadcast of the race.
