Disney Palms Golf Course vs Lake Buena Vista? Find Out Which Disney Golf Course is Right for You!

Okay, let me tell you about my day out at the Disney Palms golf course. It’s been on my list for a while, so I finally booked a tee time and went to check it out.

Getting There and First Impressions

Getting there was pretty straightforward, typical Orlando traffic but nothing too crazy early in the morning. Pulling into the Disney golf area, you kinda feel that Disney polish, you know? Everything’s tidy. Parked the car, grabbed my clubs from the trunk. The bag drop guys were quick, got my clubs onto a cart right away.

Walked into the clubhouse. It felt, well, like a nice golf clubhouse. Nothing overly ‘Disney’ right there, which was fine by me. Just wanted to play some golf. The check-in process was smooth. Went to the counter, gave my name, paid the greens fee. Oof, it wasn’t cheap, gotta say. Definitely paying that Disney premium. But hey, I was there, ready to play.

Hitting the Course

Got my cart sorted and headed to the driving range to warm up. Hit a small bucket of balls. The range was decent, enough space. Then rolled a few putts on the practice green. It felt pretty quick, which made me a little nervous.

Finally, it was our tee time. Headed to the first tee. The starter was friendly, gave us a few tips about the course conditions. He mentioned the recent work they did, I think they redid the greens and bunkers not too long ago. Always good to hear.

The course itself? It was challenging. Definitely a tougher layout than some others I’ve played in the area. Lots of water, lots of sand. You really had to think about where you wanted to place your shots. Didn’t just bomb driver everywhere, well, I tried not to anyway. Lost a couple of balls, naturally. That water just seems to attract them.

  • The fairways were in pretty good shape.
  • Bunkers had actual sand, not that hard-packed stuff you sometimes find.
  • Greens were fast, just like the practice green. Took me a while to adjust.

It wasn’t overly crowded when I started, but it definitely picked up pace around the turn. Had to wait on a few holes on the back nine. That kinda breaks the rhythm, you know? The Florida heat started to kick in too. Drank a ton of water.

Wrapping Up the Round

Finished up on 18. Felt good to be done, mostly because I was tired and hot. Didn’t shoot my best score ever, not by a long shot, but it was a decent round overall. The course layout was memorable, definitely makes you use different clubs in your bag.

Dropped off the cart, the staff grabbed my clubs again. Headed back inside, grabbed a cold drink. Didn’t stick around too long, just wanted to get back and relax. Overall, it was a solid experience. The course was tough but fair, conditions were good. Is it worth the price? Maybe for a special occasion or if you really want that specific challenge. Glad I played it, ticked it off the list.
