Alright, let’s talk about that trip I took, getting from Abu Dhabi over to Qatar. Needed to get there, and flying seemed like the only sensible option. Didn’t fancy that long drive at all.

Booking and Getting Ready
So, first thing, I jumped online. Hunted around for flights. Found a ticket with one of the airlines, Etihad or Qatar Airways, can’t recall exactly which one now, but the price wasn’t too bad. Booked it right then and there. Didn’t need much planning, really. Packed light, just a carry-on and maybe a small checked bag. Threw some clothes in, toiletries, usual stuff. Made sure my passport was still valid, obviously. Pretty simple prep.
Heading to the Airport in Abu Dhabi
Day of the flight, got myself over to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH). Got dropped off. Went inside, looked for the check-in desk for my flight. Found it, handed over my passport and bag. They tagged it, gave me my boarding pass. Easy enough.
Then it was off to security. You know the drill:
- Shoes off, maybe? Sometimes they ask, sometimes not.
- Belt off, pockets empty.
- Laptop out of the bag.
- Walk through the scanner.
Got through that without any fuss. Then passport control to exit the UAE. Quick stamp. After that, just walked towards the gate shown on the pass. Found a seat and waited. Played on my phone a bit, watched people milling about. Standard airport waiting game.
The Flight Itself
Eventually, they called us for boarding. Got on the plane, found my seat. It was a pretty short flight, honestly. Felt like we were barely up before we started coming down again. Maybe an hour, give or take? Looked out the window for a bit. Not much else to do on such a quick hop. Think they offered water or juice. It was over before I knew it.

Arriving in Doha
Landed at Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha. It’s a big place, quite impressive. Had a bit of a walk from the gate to get to immigration. Lined up there. Handed my passport over to the officer. He looked at it, stamped it, handed it back. Welcome to Qatar.
Next stop, baggage claim. Found the right carousel number on the screen. Waited for my bag to come around. Took a little while, but it showed up eventually. Grabbed it off the belt.
Getting Out and About
Made it! Bag in hand, walked through the customs check (nothing to declare for me) and out into the arrivals hall. Looked around for transport options. Could have taken the Metro, it connects right to the airport now, I think. But honestly, just wanted to get going, so I followed the signs for the taxis. Found the taxi rank, got in one, told the driver the address I needed. Off we went into Doha.
And that’s pretty much the whole story. Abu Dhabi to Qatar. Flew over, got in, no real dramas. Just another trip, done and dusted.
