Okay, here’s my travel blog post about my trip from Edinburgh, Scotland to Dublin, Ireland:

So, I finally did that Edinburgh to Dublin trip I’d been planning forever! It wasn’t super complicated, but there are definitely a few ways you can go about it, and I wanted to share what I did and how it worked out.
Figuring Out the Best Route
First, I had to decide how I wanted to get there. Flying is obviously the quickest, but I also looked into trains and ferries. It felt like a bit of an adventure to consider the ferry, plus it gives some nice views.
- Flights: I checked out prices, and yeah, they were pretty cheap. Like, really cheap. But then you gotta factor in getting to and from the airports, which adds time and money.
- Train + Ferry: This seemed cool, but it was turning into a whole-day affair. I looked at getting a train from Edinburgh to a port town, then hopping on a ferry across.
- Direct Bus:It is surprisingly cheap, and you can go directly without any middle transfer.
My Choice: Keepin’ It Simple
I ended up choosing the direct *, it was way easier.I found that buses that go all the way from Edinburgh to Dublin. No airport hassle, no train changes, just kick back and watch the scenery whiz by.
The Bus Journey
The bus ride itself was pretty chill. I think it took, I don’t know, like 9 hours. It has a stop in Belfast.I made sure to download some podcasts and bring a book. The seats were comfy enough, and there was even Wi-Fi on board (though it was a bit spotty at times, to be honest). The ferry part was cool – got to stretch my legs and grab a coffee on board.
Arriving in Dublin
We rolled into Dublin in the evening. Finding my hostel was easy peasy, it’s quite in the center of the city. I was pretty tired, but excited to be in a new city! I grabbed some food, checked in, and crashed pretty much immediately.

Final Thoughts
Looking back, I’m happy with my choice. The bus was straightforward and way less stressful than I thought it would be. If you’re looking to do this trip and aren’t in a massive hurry, I’d definitely say give the bus a look. It’s budget-friendly and lets you see a bit more of the countryside, which is always a plus in my book!
