Okay, so, let me tell you about my little adventure to the Fair Meadows race track. It all started when I got this itch to do something different, you know? Get out of the house, feel some excitement. So I heard about this place, Fair Meadows, where they have live horse racing. Sounded pretty cool, so I decided to check it out.
First thing I did was look up when they were open. Turns out, they’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, bummer. But they’re open from Wednesday through Saturday, starting around 11:30 in the morning until the last race. Good enough for me! I picked a Saturday, figured it’d be a good time with lots of people and a fun atmosphere.
Getting there was easy peasy. It’s just outside of Tulsa, in Claremore, Oklahoma. Not a bad drive at all. When I got there, the place was buzzing. Lots of folks milling about, checking out the horses, placing bets, that kind of thing. I grabbed a program to get the scoop on the races and the horses. Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds, they had both, it was awesome!
I wandered around, soaking it all in. Found a spot near the track with a good view. The anticipation in the air was electric, you could feel it. And then, they were off! The thunder of hooves, the crowd roaring, it was quite a rush. I even placed a couple of bets, just for kicks. Didn’t win anything, but hey, it was fun.
They had these VIP Fridays things going on in July. If I were to go back I might be interested to enjoy the races from a VIP climate-controlled environment. It was getting pretty hot out there. There was a lot of people watching but I did see that they have a mission, something about creating a significant economic impact benefiting the citizens of Tulsa County, it was written on the wall. I thought that was pretty nice.
Here’s what I did:

- Checked the schedule: Made sure I went on a day they were open.
- Got there: Drove to Claremore, Oklahoma. No problem at all.
- Grabbed a program: Learned about the horses and races.
- Watched the races: Found a good spot and enjoyed the show.
- Placed a few bets: Just for fun, didn’t win, but still exciting.
They also talked about some other place called Canterbury Park, and that place is the home to live horse racing, simulcast racing, and they even have a 24/7 card club featuring Blackjack, Texas Hold’em. I might go there next time and see what’s happening there. It was an awesome day at the races, even though it looks like the season is over. The program said “Thank you for a thrilling race season at Fair Meadows! Here’s to the incredible moments we’ve shared and the memories we’ve made See you next year for more excitement on the track.” I’ll definitely be back next year. Maybe I’ll see some of you there!
Overall
It was a blast! Definitely something different and exciting. If you’re looking for a fun day out, I’d recommend checking out Fair Meadows. Just remember to check their schedule, and maybe bring some cash for bets if you’re feeling lucky!
