Free Motorcycles: How to Find Them (Legit Ways to Score a Ride)

Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “free motorcycle” ads popping up everywhere lately, and I got curious. Could it really be true? I decided to dig in and see what’s what.

My Deep Dive into “Free Motorcycles”

First thing I did was just browse around. I checked out a bunch of different websites and online classifieds. And yeah, there were tons of listings for free bikes. Most of them looked pretty beat up, to be honest. Lots of “project bikes” or ones that clearly hadn’t run in years.

Then I started looking at the fine print. A lot of these ads had little catches. Some were basically just giving away the bike if you paid for like, a super expensive “delivery” fee. Others wanted you to sign up for some weird membership thing. It felt kinda shady.

I focused on finding ones that seemed more legit – like, maybe someone just moving and needing to get rid of a bike fast. I found a few that looked promising, mostly older bikes that needed some work. I figured, hey, I’m pretty handy, I could probably fix one up.

I contacted a couple of sellers. One guy was super upfront – he just wanted the bike gone, said it hadn’t run in a few years, but the engine wasn’t seized. Another person was a little harder to pin down, kept asking about my “qualifications” to own a bike. That felt weird, so I backed off.

I finally went to check out the first bike. It was a rusty old thing, but like the guy said, the engine turned over. We chatted for a bit, he seemed genuine, just didn’t have time for the bike anymore. He even had the title, which was a good sign.

So, I took a chance! I borrowed my buddy’s truck, and we hauled that old bike back to my garage. It’s definitely a project, no question. But it was free!

  • Cleaned out the carburetor – gunked up something awful.
  • Checked the spark plugs – they were toast, so I replaced them.
  • Drained the old gas and put in fresh stuff.
  • Tried to start it… and it sputtered to life!

It ran rough, but it RAN! I was pretty stoked. I’ve still got a lot of work to do – tires, brakes, the whole nine yards. But it’s a start. I am so happy!

I just want to share and record this process, and I got a free motorcycle, a real one, not a scam!
