Okay, so, about this Genesis 2024 tournament. Let me tell you, it was a wild ride. I’ve been following these things for a while now, and this year I decided, you know what, I’m gonna actually try and get in on the action. Not as a player, mind you, I’m not that good. But I figured I could at least be there, see it all firsthand, maybe even volunteer.

First thing I did was look up how to actually get involved. It seemed pretty straightforward, they had this whole registration thing online. Filled out some forms, you know, the usual stuff. Name, contact info, why I was interested in the event. I wrote some stuff about wanting to experience the energy of a big gaming tournament and maybe help out if they needed people.
Then came the waiting. It felt like forever, but finally, I got an email back. They said they were happy to have me as a volunteer! I was stoked. They sent over a bunch of info about what to expect, where to be, and when. There were different roles, like helping with registration, guiding people around, even some tech stuff. They put me on the team that manages the hall.
Fast forward to the actual event. Man, the atmosphere was electric. You could feel the excitement in the air. Gamers everywhere, all focused, getting ready to compete. I spent the first day just soaking it all in, helping people find their way, answering questions. It was crazy busy, but also really fun. I even got to watch some of the early matches. These players are seriously good.
- Day 1: Set up the booth and helped the players check in.
- Day 2: Guided the audience to their seats and managed the entrance to the main stage.
- Day 3: Helped with tearing down the stage and packing up the equipment.
The next couple of days were a blur of activity. I was running around, making sure everything was running smoothly, helping out wherever I could. I met some really cool people, other volunteers, some of the organizers, even a few of the players. Everyone was super passionate about gaming, and it was awesome to be a part of that.
By the end of the tournament, I was exhausted, but it was a good kind of tired. I’d actually been a part of something big, something I’d only ever watched from afar before. And you know what? I’d do it all again in a heartbeat. Maybe next year I’ll even try to get involved in a different way. Who knows, maybe I’ll learn enough to actually understand what these pro gamers are doing!

Reflection
Honestly, this whole experience was way more than I expected. I went in thinking it would be cool to just be there, but I came out feeling like I was actually a part of the community. It’s not just about the games, it’s about the people, the passion, the energy. It’s something you have to experience to really understand. And I’m glad I did.
