I saw a lot of people talking about Aaron Rodgers’s helmet online the other day. I got curious too, so I did some digging to figure out what’s up with that.

First, I checked out some news about Rodgers. It seems like the dude has had to change his helmet quite a few times in his career. I found out that back in 2019, the NFL told him he couldn’t use his helmet anymore. They have some pretty strict rules about that stuff.
Then I looked into why helmets are such a big deal in football, especially for quarterbacks. Turns out, it’s all about safety. These guys are at a high risk of getting some serious head injuries from those big tackles, you know? So, Rodgers, like many other players, wears a special helmet. It’s designed to protect him from concussions. Apparently, the NFL is really cracking down on head safety, which is good.
I also noticed that the “G” on the Packers’ helmets used to look more like a football, but it has changed to an oval shape over the years. I always thought the “G” stood for “greatness,” but I found out that the “G” actually stands for “Green Bay.” It’s kind of obvious when you think about it. It makes sense, right?
I was wondering if Rodgers’s helmet was totally different from everyone else’s, but it turns out that his current helmet uses the same outer shell as his old one. So it looks similar, but I guess the insides are what really matter for safety.
Here’s what I learned about Rodgers’s current helmet:
- It’s called the Schutt Sports Varsity AiR XP Pro VTD II. Sounds fancy, huh?
- Rodgers has been wearing this type of helmet since his college days. Guess he’s found something he likes and sticks with it.
So, basically, it seems like Rodgers’s helmet might look a little different, but the main thing is that it’s all about keeping him safe out there on the field. It’s pretty cool how much thought goes into designing these things.
That’s all I’ve found out for now. It was a fun little research project. If I find anything else, I will share with you guys for sure.
