Anyway, I figured the best way to stay on top of it is to make my own table. Here’s how I got started.
First, I searched around to find the basic info about the Carling Cup which I should put into my table, like the full name, fixtures, the latest standings, you know, the usual stuff. I found out that this season’s fixtures started on August 13, 2024. So, I made a note of that. And from some source, I saw the next round of matches is set for September 18, 2024. Gotta keep track of those dates.
Setting Up the Table
So, I started building my table. I used some information to make the columns:
- Teams: Obviously, this is where I listed all the teams.
- Matches Played: How many games each team has played so far.
- Wins: Number of wins.
- Draws: How many matches ended in a draw.
- Losses: Number of losses.
- Points: Total points, calculated based on wins and draws.
Then came the fun part – filling it in. I looked up the latest results and started plugging in the numbers. For example, I found some results from way back, like Blackburn Rovers beating Newcastle United 4-3, and Everton losing to Chelsea 1-2. These are probably not relevant to the current season, but hey, it’s all part of the cup’s history.
But there is some data from the source indicating the latest matches, like “Aug 28, 2024” results. I will also include these into the table I created. I just put the scores in my table. This made the table look more complete, you know?
Keeping It Updated
The hard part is keeping it updated, I need to get the live statistics of this game. I checked the results and standings after each match day. Luckily, there are tons of websites that post these stats. I just had to make sure I got to them before they get buried under newer articles, which happens more often than you’d think. It’s not that difficult; it just needs a bit of time each week.
Why Bother?
You might ask, why go through all this trouble? Well, I like having all the data in one place, customized the way I want it. Plus, it’s kinda fun to see how the table changes throughout the season. It gives you a different perspective on the competition, you know? And it’s a good way to remember the matches and how each team is doing.
So, that’s my little project. It’s not perfect, and I’m no expert, but it works for me. And who knows, maybe I’ll add more to it as the season goes on. Top scorers, maybe? Or some historical stats? The possibilities are endless!
